Most of us agree that cooler weather is ideal for cozying up and getting snuggly. But just because it’s hot out doesn’t mean we don’t want to be close.
Here are some of our favorite ways to stay connected even in the heat.
1. B2B
Lying back to back – or is it butt to butt? You pick!
For the times when you need your space but still want to a good amount of contact. You may experience a feeling of being supported from having your back held in this way.
We recommend trying this while sitting up too.
2. Criss-Cross
Also known as the Leg Hug. Simply lay alongside one another and drape a leg over just to say “I’m right here”.
You can choose to do this laying face down or face up (or both). Great for groups too!
3. Two Peas in a Pod
This position can feel super intimate despite having minimal contact.
Get comfortable lying on your sides while facing each other. Use this as an opportunity to eye-gaze if you’d like. Interlock knees and/or hold hands for more contact. Or opt for less touch or no touch at all.
Great for conversation, or a tender face caress.
4. The Windmill
Also known as “Cheek to Cheek”, this position is best with a lot of room to stretch out. Do this on the floor or bring it outdoors.
Lie on your backs facing opposite directions, using each other’s shoulders as pillows. You can extend your arms and hold hands on one or both sides. Enjoy the literal face-to-face contact. Nuzzling optional.
Try this in a group too!
5. The Afternoon Picnic
Ah the good ‘ole head in lap snuggle. One person stays sitting up, while the other can lay on their side or back using the lap as the pillow – whatever is most comfy. Add a pillow or cushion for extra plush or support as needed.
Great while reading or watching TV together. We recommend using this as an opportunity for hair playing, head rubs or a face caress.
Do this on a couch or a bed, or even better – outdoors on a picnic blanket!
Cuddling No Matter the Weather
We hope this inspires you to continue cuddling through the summer months.
If this leaves you wishing you had someone to cuddle with, you’re not alone. You don’t have to be in a romantic relationship to get your touch or connection needs met. As you can see by these positions, cuddling can be platonic, done with friends or friendly strangers.
You can find a cuddle buddy, attend a cuddle event, or hire a professional cuddler. All it takes is to reach out and ask for what you want!
