For many people, Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday. For others it’s stressful or lonely. Where ever you are today (solo, with friends or family) and however you’re feeling today (Relaxed? Anxious? Blue?) I wanted to take a moment to say hello and practice tiny bits of gratitude.

Tiny bits of gratitude are the things I can notice in my life that are good. I like to focus on the small ones – the smaller the better. Some mornings I open my journal and list a few before I start my day. For Thanksgiving, I’m going to savor them with you by adding details.

Tiny Bits of Bed Gratitude

I have lots of pillows and clean sheets on my bed. When I wake up I can wiggle around and be completely surrounded by cottony softness. I also happen to sleep well most every night. I turn off the light to go to sleep and the next thing I know, it’s morning. Many people have insomnia, a sleep disorder or noisy neighbors. I have quiet, peace and dreams. Lucky!

Tiny Bits of Airport Gratitude

On the shuttle from Parking Lot C heading to the airport, a driver came on the bus and announced that he wishes us all a happy Thanksgiving. And then he got off. He wasn’t even our driver. It occurred to me how lucky we all were on that shuttle to have the means to fly somewhere for Thanksgiving. And what a generous dude that was.

I’ve noticed at airports lately that there’s a place for passengers who are waiting for a flight to fill their water bottles. As I filled my bottle I thought of people who have to haul water every day for washing and drinking. I wondered how amazed they might be to see such a contraption.

Tiny Bits of Health Care Gratitude

Last night I went out and didn’t feel tired – before, during or after the evening. I have spent the past – almost three years – recovering from a thyroid issue that impacted my energy levels a lot. I found a doctor that I trust (grateful for her) and followed her instructions carefully (grateful for me). Now I don’t have to take a nap everyday as I used to. And I have compassion for people with thyroid issues – it’s a hard thing to understand unless you’ve felt it.

Tiny Bits of Cuddle Sanctuary Gratitude

If you’ve ever attended Cuddle Sanctuary, you’ve probably visited the Love Dome – our headquarters. The manager of the space, Zoe, charges a very reasonable fee for us to be there. Her purpose is for the Love Dome to serve as an incubator for community gatherings like ours. It is such a gift to have Zoe’s very tangible support!

Got any tiny bits of gratitude? I’d love to hear them – especially the details.

Happy Thanksgiving my friend!
