Earlier this month I shared Designer Cuddle Experiences such as the Music Lover’s Cuddle and the Helping/Healing Cuddle. Today I have three more to share with you.
“Practice Receiving” Cuddle
For many of us – especially those in caregiving professions such as therapists, nurses and social workers – it can be hard to relax and not give, give and give. Giving can be the most comfortable mode for some of us. It’s what we do, it’s what we know. It’s our comfort zone. But constant giving can also create resentment. When does it ever get to be your turn?
That’s why I’ve dedicated an entire Designer Cuddle Experience to the art of receiving. The “Practice Receiving” Cuddle is where one person gives and the other relaxes and receives. You can choose to try this option for just five minutes to see if that helps you both ease into it. It’s a great practice for those who need to get serious about resting, relaxing, replenishing and avoiding burnout.
Movie-n-Popcorn Cuddle
There are three things to watch out for with the Movie-n-Popcorn Cuddle. First, is that it’s a common choice for those who are newly dating to say “Let’s watch a movie at my place” (#NetflixAndChill) when what they both know they mean is, “Let’s be sexual with each other for the first time.” So if you want to have a Rated G cuddle, you may need to double check with your cuddle buddy that you are both crystal clear that neither of you are talking in code.
The second thing to consider is that the movie can be distracting to the guidelines that you may have agreed to. For instance, if you’ve agreed to The Ask and Wait Method, it might be easy to forget that promise in the trance state of movie watching.
A final thing to consider is if the movie has sex scenes. That may be awkward, arousing or…awkwardly arousing.
Have said all of that, this kind of cuddle is very popular. And there’s a snack involved – bonus! Just as with Music Lovers, your challenge is to decide on a flick to enjoy together. With all of the movie choices out there, it might be wise to agree on the movie before the game begins. Otherwise, you might spend thirty minutes debating movie options. (That’s thirty minutes less cuddling – doh!) If you and your cuddle buddy enjoy dressing up, feel free to have a Star Wars cuddle, an Avengers cuddle or whatever else floats your boat. Have fun!
Quick-n-Casual Cuddle
Are you a mom who’s short on sleep? A professional who can barely squeeze lunch into your day? A student who’s always in the library or in class? We all need cuddling and many of us feel short on time. Never fear, the Quick-n-Casual Cuddle is here.
Here are some options for the Quick-n-Casual Cuddle:
- Holding hands at a cafe for ten minutes
- Lying down side by side with your cuddle buddy on a picnic blanket at the park on your lunch break.
- Spooning with your spouse for five minutes before the kids come home
- Walking arm in arm as you go from one class to the next
Enjoy!
